These instruments are miniature fiber optic spectrometers used to
measure fluorescence. They connect to a sampling area using a
1000um fiber optic cable. The units have offer a wide spectral range
based upon the application requirements. The
detector is a highly sensitive Charge Coupled Device (CCD) which
provides 7 decades of dynamic range. Flourescence measurements are
most suited for StellarNet's concave grating
spectrometers. The EPP2000C-TEC spectroflourimeter has an
integrated Thermo Electric Cooler (TEC) maintained at –10 °C and stabilized
within +/-0.1°C.
The spectrograph has a permanently installed slit to set the
spectrofluorometer optical resolution.
Operationally, the spectrofluorometer is connected to
a fiber optic cuvette sample holder or directly to a fiber optic
chemical sensor. In either case, the sample is excited with a specific
range of light wavelengths and then monitored for fluorescent emissions
at higher wavelengths. Additional optical channels can be attached to
configure for traditional dual-beam and other multi-beam process monitor
configurations.
Excitation Sources
With the emergence of low cost narrow band LEDs, StellarNet is now
offering a multitude of different LED wavelengths to suite your specific excitation
application. StellarNets'
SL1-LED excitation source is ideal for
Fluorescence measurements. The light source includes the SL1-Blue
plus an LED kit consisting of 6 Visible range LED’s
and a White LED. LED’s
can
be swapped without any wiring changes - just
pull one out and push the next one in!

Power and
InterFace
The instruments are
constructed in a small metal enclosure of 6x3.5x1.5 inches, with a fiber
optic SMA connection on the front panel.
Portable spectrometers have an easy to use plug and
play interface with USB-2 connection and +5VDC power adapter for
120VAC-60HZ. These power adapters are small wall mount transformers with
U.S. style 2 prong plugs. For usage outside the U.S.A., we offer an
upgrade to universal power adapters. If you don't have a USB-2 port,
connecting the spectrometer to a second EPP printer port on your
computer is most convenient and recommended. For portable notebook
computers that don't have a USB-2 port or an EPP capable printer port,
we offer the PCMCIA card style EPP interface.

Detectors
The units have an integrated data digitizer with a
4096 count magnitude for any detector integration period. The
detector can be selected to integrate from 4 milliseconds to 60 seconds,
extending the detection limits for small signals. A decade of
dynamic range includes the selected integration period 2.
