StellarNet, Inc. manufactures miniature portable spectrometers named the EPP2000 series. These units represent a step up in low cost instrument design.  They connect to a computers EPP printer port and allow simple daisy chaining for multi-beam optical channel configurations. Models are available for various standard and custom ranges and resolutions for the UV, VIS, NIR and XNIR wavelength regions (190-1600nm). We also manufacture plug-in spectrometers called the ISA2000. These units are configured with identical spectrographs and are suitable for many production monitor and process applications, tucked away in an industrial rack mount or portable lunch box PC.

To help you decide, we dare you to shop and compare our instrumentation features:

  • A separate analog to digital converter (A/D) interface card is not required.  Each unit has its own integrated A/D chip that is mounted only inches from the detector eliminating noise pickup from the interface cable. The interface cable to the computer is a digital IEEE1284 standard and connects to an Enhanced Parallel Printer (EPP) port.  Newer computers have an integrated EPP port, otherwise inexpensive ISA bus, PCI bus, and PCMCIA cards are available. Problems associated with A/D variations and conversion rates between a notebook and desktop computer are completely eliminated.
  • Each spectrometer can be setup to daisy chain multiple units on a single ribbon cable!  This Multi-beam architecture allows all channels to integrate simultaneously without loss of resolution because each unit has its own spectral data memory that can hold 2048 wavelengths.  Special cables are NOT required!  When needed, additional optical channels can be installed in other computers and operated independantly, or can be easily swapped.
  • The optics are designed for stability in a portable environment. The detectors are not mounted in sockets, they are soldered to tiny circuit cards.  These cards are mechanically locked onto the optical spectrograph.  A short cable connects the detector to the main spectrometer electronics.  Thermal or vibrational movement of the spectrograph with respect to the supporting electronics does not affect optical alignment.
  • CCD or Photo Diode Array detectors with optical resolutions down to 0.5nm FWHM as determined by slit, grating and resolution control.  Optional concave holographic grating with NO mirrors is aberration corrected for superb imaging while minimizing stray light in the UV (less than 0.2% @220nm).
  • OEM spectrographs can be interchanged without violating unit calibration. The optical spectrograph can be mounted separately from its electronics board.
  • SpectraWiz spectrometer operating software and drivers are included free for Win95/98/NT/Me/2000 and Dos.   Example demo source code programs for LabVIEW, C/C++, Delphi (Pascal), and VisualBasic.    Free SpectraWiz applications included for SpectroRadiometry providing absolute intensities in watts/lumens/LUX//footcandles/moles/PAR, SpectroColorimetry for the color of light and reflected colors, UV/VIS Spectroscopy for absorbance and transmittance measurement, Chemistry concentration determination, Optical Spectrum Analysis tools for centroid/ peak/ FWHM/ and power spectral density, and UV Light monitor for UVa/b/c/Tm/Te actions, episodic data capture over time with 3d graphing and wavelength extraction to time series graphs, and much much more...
